The trial of three young women who staged a 40-second punk performance in Moscow's largest cathedral — and the global solidarity movement they ignited.
In February 2012, three members of Russian feminist punk collective Pussy Riot performed a 40-second "Punk Prayer" against Vladimir Putin in Moscow's Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. They were arrested, charged with hooliganism motivated by religious hatred, and put on trial. A Punk Prayer follows the trial, the women, and the worldwide protest movement that crystallized around them.
